If by "vss" you are referring to the vehicle speed sensor...
Removal -
# Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Raise and support the vehicle. # Remove the catalytic converter Y-pipe. # Unplug the VSS electrical connector. # Remove the VSS protective heat shield. # Remove the retaining bolt from the VSS. # Lift the VSS out of the transaxle. # Remove the driven gear retainer and the drive gear.
No need to test VSS. If the check engine light is on and fault code is VSS; then replace same. Huge job best done by reputable shop.
The VSS is located on the top of the transmission and is connected to the engine wiring harness. To replace it all you need to do is unplug the old one from the wiring harness and unscrew it from the transmission, instalation is the reverse of removal.
The vss is on top of the trans-axle, behind the engine on the passenger side.
If the VSS is defective replace the instrument cluster.
If the VSS is defective replace the instrument cluster.
Replace the VSS and wires.

There is an output coming from the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and an input going into the ECM (Engine Control Module).
Yes - the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) feeds the data to the speedometer, so if it goes bad, so does the speedometer, odometer, the transmission starts acting real funky, and a myriad of other symptoms. See "Related Questions" below for more about replacing the VSS
Replace it.......its one bolt on the side of the transmission.....
raise the vehicle,disconnect the electrcal connection from the vss. remove the mounting bolt and withdraw the vss from the transaxle case. replace sensor "O" ring.
