Reprogram?? I don't know if you can reprogram the idle but there is a idle adjustment screw on my 91 right under the intake.... Try adjusting that
u might need a idle air control value
AnswerThere is no fast idle speed screw on a fuel injected motor. Check the Idle Air Control valve, the Throttle Position Sensor, and the Mass Airflow sensor before you go digging around with the ECM.first 91 has a 5.0 92 has a 4.6 there is a stop screw that can be adjusted but i don not recommend it i would try the above
the cold idle is controlled by the PCM ( power train control module) the computer of the car and idle is not adjustable.
check your air idle control valve
Open the hood of the car and find the idle air control valve. The valve is located on the Gran Marquis' throttle body. The idle air control is a cylinder with a wire connector plugged into it. If needed, refer to your repair manual for an exact diagram. your loosing idle pressure check your vacume lines ans throttle sensor
Please be more specific ....what is an "idle air motor"...I have 25 years experience and have never heard of it???
This year had a central fuel injection with the idle speed on the side of the throttle body in the form of a D.C. motor with mechanical adjustments.
idle air control motor.
Idle speed motor defective. Also possible a vacuum leak.
Try adjusting the idle using the idle screw on the butterfly valve of the air intake. It might be that the idle is just set too high. If that doesn't work, try adjusting the timing. If that still doesn't work, try replacing the Throttle Position Sensor, located right above the throttle body.
CHECK IDLE CONTROL VALVE, I REPLACED COST 80 DOLLARS ONLY TWO SCREWS,WORKED FOR ME
Idle air controllers are held on by two screws on one side of the EGR block. Remove the two screws, discard and replace the gasket and reattach. Should take about 10 minutes.
