P0442 means an evaporative emission leak has been detected. On BMW's this is commonly a lose fuel cap. This cannot be reset, the diagnostic trouble code can only be cleared. However if the cause is not repaired or corrected the code will return. I would suggest checking your fuel cap, you can ask a local auto parts store to clear the code for you, if it returns you'll probably need a smoke test done at a reputable import shop or take it to your local BMW dealership to find the evep system leak.
