(this only works if you have a 4th or 5th Generation) You put the hold switch on the left, then flip it right and back again, then hold the center button and menu button down at the same time for about 6 seconds. This should restart the iPod and it is fixed.

i have come across this 2 times.
hold the on/off and home button together for about 10 seconds. It should reboot and yes! If that doesn't work, Turn your ipod off, hold the home button and connect to computer with the computer running iTunes. Then restore!

∙ 10y agoWell, if it is a touch/iPhone, then hold down the apple™ button and the top of the device (itouch: left, iPhone:right) until you see the apple™ symbol. DO NOT SLIDE TO POWER OFF!!!
If you have a shuffle/Nano/classic/video and any others, then hold down the "menu" button and the centre button until you see the apple™ button.

∙ 14y agoMy ipod is frozen too, Ive tried everything to unfreeze it but nothing works. But I did come up with a plan that will work. Simpley let the battery die, then just recharge it.

∙ 13y agoMy iPod touch was frozen, and I fixed it by holding down the home button and the on/off button for about 5 seconds. The Apple logo should come on and your iPod won't be frozen anymore.
