Not quite sure how to do it manually, but if you spend the extra couple of dollars to go to a Acura dealer they will reset all the warning lights on the vehicle.
To reset "MAINTENANCE REQUIRED" light, turn ignition off, press and hold the SELECT and RESET buttons. Turn ignition and hold buttons for 10 seconds until the indicator resets. works on 2003 mdx for sure.
Put the key in the ignition without turning. Push the odometer/speedometer reset button and keep your finger on it while turning the key on accessories. Wait a few seconds and light should go off.
Time for an oil change
All you have to do is turn the key in the ignition to "power on" (without starting the car) while holding the "reset" and "select" buttons on the instrument panel. Hold for several seconds. the next time you start the car, the maintenance require light will be gone.
You can't reset that light...there is no such thing as a 2002 Honda Element...they didn't come out until 2003.
Key off, hold select button, then turn key on, but don't start engine, wait approximately 15 seconds until maintenance required light stops flashing. Turn key back off. Turn on again without starting if reset is successful maintenance light will only appear once. I had to hold both the select and reset botton. I had to hold both buttons as well. Maybe it is the reset button that needs to be held. I will find out at next service.

Push and hold the odometer reset button and then turn the ignition switch to the on position but do not start the engine. After around 5 seconds the light will reset.
It will be in the owners manual. Get one from MOTORLIT.COM
i tried all procedures, and mine still won't go off!
With the ignition OFF press and hold the odometer reset button while at the same time turning the ignition to the on position without starting the engine. After 5 seconds the light will reset.
