1) Press and hold the trip odometer reset/select button 2) While holding the button, turn the key on to the RUN position. (where the key normally rests while driving) 3) KEEP HOLDING the trip button for 10 seconds or so, until the maintenance required light goes off. 4) Once the light goes off, release the trip button and turn off ignition. The light is now reset.
The easiest way I have found is to disconnect the battery for a minute or so.
It means there is scheduled maintenance required based on your mileage. Can be just an oil change or can be something else like you need to replace the cam belt. Open your owner's manual and it will tell you exactly what is needed.
