That is not how you reset the check engine light. That trick can only be used to reset the airbag light (something I have had to do often). Reseting the CEL involves doing specific maneuvers with the screw on the ECU. Check out SR20forum.com
Hi, I have the Nissan Altima 2001 too and the overdrive switch in on the gear shifter handle and just below the shift push button.
There should be a small button below the button you push to put it in gear on the shifter.
The oil pressure switch is located next to the engine.
The 1998 Nissan brake light switch is located below the dashboard, on the drivers side of the engine compartment. The brake light switch simply plugs in and out.
The 1992 Nissan truck air-conditioner pressure switch is located in the fuse box. The fuse box can be found in the engine compartment.
The safety neutral switch on a 1989 Nissan Pickup with an automatic transmission and a D-24 engine is located on the transaxle. The neutral switch will be found where the linkage attaches to the transaxle unit.
I just read on another site, that the switch is controlled by the engine temp. It will not allow the Z to go into overdrive if the car is not up to temp. Could be the t-stat is stuck open or the engine temp switch is bad. Research engine temperature controls. Just a place to start.
The 2002 Nissan Xterra fuel pump reset switch can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The fuel pump relay switch will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
The 1995 Nissan Pathfinder headlight relay switch is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The headlamp relay switch will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
The 1996 Nissan fuel pump relay switch is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The relay switch will be on the drivers side of the firewall.
If you leave the Ingition Switch on without the engine running. The battery will go dead. Then you will have to get a boost or charge the battery to get the engine started.
it is possible for the unlock side of the switch to be bad and it has nothing to do with the battery
