There is no transmission fluid dipstick on 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. The process to check the fluid level is very tricky and my recommendation is to take it to the dealer to have it check and filled if needed. It was designed this way to prevent leaks. Take some money. This previous answer is correct i have a 2000 Alero and it does not have a tranny dipstick, its an automaic and they call this tranny a sealed for life set up, there is a filler cap to add fluid but to check it i suggest take it to dealer or try to see if u can see any fluid near the top of filler tube reservor. as long as u have no leaks from tranny it should not need fluid and if u think it does it wont need much as long as there are no leaks, TONY, Indpls, IN..
Some GM transmissions are sealed for life and have no filler tube. Refer to your owners manual for the scheduled maintenance on the transmission.
Auto or Std.? auto I have a 2000 Alero and my transmission is an automatic and only has a filler cap, and this tranny is a sealed for life transmission with no dipstick, so no way of checking it unless u get under the car and loosen the trans plug on the side of tranny and if it runs out ur ok, if noy add a little that's the best answer i got 4 ya, but mine is a seled for life tranny no dipstick and no way of checking it, and as long as u don't have a leak u should not have to add any, thanx, Sincerley, TONY, Indpls, IN....
I had a 2000 Olds Alero 4 cylinder. There is not a dipstick for the transmission, it can be checked by hoisting the vehicle and remove the fill nut/cap. If the fluid is at the top there is enough. I would recommend taking it to the shop for this, as I do not have the specifics of where it is located. I have a 2000 Alero v 6 engine automstic trans and mine is what they call a sealed for life transmission, it does have a filler cap but no dipstick. so the previous answer would be correct to check the fluid level and as long as u have no leaks from the tranny u shouldn't have to add any if little at all, Sincerely, TONY ,, Indianapolis, IN.
