The light may be on because of a damaged ABS sensor. The sensor is a wheel hub sensor located in the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Sometimes a cleaning or wiring reattachment may help, but usually you are dealing with a faulty sensor thst needs replacement. The sensor is a little difficult to remove, so a dealer mechanic will charge a lot. Also the OEM sesnor is expensive if bought new. You might get the sensor from a salvage yard - even buying the whole wheel hub assembly (for $100 or so. In a dealer, this repair could cost you from 600 to 900 dollars.
