Cycle the key from the off position to the on position three times, on the third time, walk away for ten mins with the key on (to reduce the temptation to mess with anything else or accidentally turn the key), then shut the car off again, now attempt to start the car. That should reset the security system and relearn the key. If that doesn't work, take it to your nearest friendly Mr. Goodwrench.
