In some vehicles, it is possible to reset the four-wheel drive service light by turning on the ignition, but not starting the car. The gas pedal should be pushed repeatedly a few times. Alternatively, a dealership can reset the light.
After service light appears, push reset button located behind steering wheel to the left next to mileage. Press reset button 3 times to select and confirm a service. The control arrows are located on steering wheel to the left.
if you have the steering wheel controls, that arrow on the lower right side will reset it.
on your steering wheel contols scroll thru the menu until you see the engine oil life and old the arrow key down. that should erase it...
why is my service 4 wheel drive light on on my 2008silverado
If you turn the key on, not started, press the gas pedal 3 times. The service light should flash 3 times. Turn the key off and then start the vehicle and the light should go out.
That can only be done by a service tech, the car is so new that it will not reset even if you disconnect the battery**the above is incorrect. To reset the service light, turn ignition switch to ON position with engine off. Observe speedometer display and tachometer multifunction display. When standard display appears press up or down arrow on the multifunction steering wheel until the FSS service indicator with one or two wrenches appears in speedometer display and service deadline appears in tachometer display. Now, press the reset button between the speedometer and the tachometer for about 4 seconds or until the tachometer display shows "Do you want to reset service interval? Confirm by using the reset button" To confirm hold down the reset button again until a signal is heard. the service indicator will display the reset interval. Reset is complete.

The light that comes on when 4 wheel drive is engaged is not the service light. It is just an indicator light that comes on to let you know the 4 wheel drive is engaged. It will go off when the 4 wheel drive is disengaged.
I just had the same problem,in the service book that came with the car is a section that tell how to reset the service light. it say the following 1. turn on ignition should see the standard display 2. press the arrow on steering wheel up or down until you see the service notice 3. press reset button for about three seconds / you will see message displayed / that should say "service interval resert with r button for 3 seconds" 4. to confirm, press reset button until you hear a signal.
If an airbag light came on after taking off and replacing a steering wheel, the person needs to make sure the steering wheel is on correctly. Otherwise, to reset the light a person can use the OBDii scanner and clear the light.
