See your manual for the Flexible Service Schedule rest. It changes in some vehicles but it's something like:
Doors closed.
Turn the key to position 2.
Press the O (mileage reset) button twice.
Turn key to off.
Press and hold the O button while turning the key to position 2.
After about 10 seconds it resets.
The perform service light is to let you know when your oil needs to be changed and other fluid levels checked. The milage intervals can be changed in your display.
You should check the milage on a used Mercedes Benz. If the milage is really high, there may be some problems with the engine or other parts. If the milage is low then that is a good thing and there shouldn't be any problems with the engine.

You Can Get a HPI check which is easy to do, it's all over the web, it will cost about £20.00. It will tell you what the milage of a car was the last time it was serviced. That way if the milage of the service was 20,000, and the owner said it's 16,000 , you know that the milage has been tampered with.
Well....are you sure that you did the procedure correct? usually if it says not confirmed the process was not performed correct. with all the doors closed and the i.c. at the milage screen, turn key to position 1 and press the "R" reset button 3 times fast. this will access the service menu where you can then re-set the counter/service. Just selected "full service" and confirm, hope that helps!
Depends on what car and what age/milage it has. Best bet is to invest in a Haynes manual. Tells you the recommended service intervals, what parts you need and how to do it.
The wrench symbol is the service indicator. On the 406 the wrench symbol is displayed with milage to service when ignition is switched on.
