If this is what hit your computer, the files may have just been hidden. Give this a try:
- Click on 'start' (the round button in the lower left hand corner of the screen)
- Click on 'Control Panel'
- Click 'Folder Options'
- Click the 'View' tab
- Under 'Hidden files and folders', check off 'show hidden files and folders'
- Below that, uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types'
- Click 'Apply', then 'OK'
Make sure you back these files up just in case!
