Well...I wouldn't restore your 1959 VW Beetle, that's your job. And the process is long and tedious. There is a book, "How to Restore a Volkswagen Beetle," that will tell you how to do it.
The most important thing to know is, restore the body last. Do the engine, transmission, brakes and suspension first--all the ugly, greasy, rust-ridden and hidden parts that make the car reliable and safe to drive. Then do the pretty stuff.
