The mitsubishi eclipse has never had a bose stereo your 01 gs came with an infinity stereo, if your car does have one it is because it is aftermarket. To remove it you simply take the 2 screws at the bottom of the face plate that covers the heating and radio then remove the 2 or four depending how big your stereo is and pull it out.
go to installdr.com to see how to remove and install a stereo out of any car
There is a very good tutorial here: http://demonaudio.co.uk/tutorial/mitsubishi/colt/howtoupgradeamitsubishicoltstereo.aspx
take apart the dash with a Phillips head screw driver and get the serial number off the radio. call the 800 number for Mitsubishi and they will give you the code. my code is 7735. you can try that and see if it works.
you have to remove the center console there are four screws in each coner of it if you tri to remove it by releasing the two screws under the cup holder and you pull ti you will break the dash because there anre two screws that are not visible from the outside just remove the center console then youwill see a couple of more screw and you will get to the radio good luck and be pacient
remove heater bezzel (remove knobs and remove two Philips screws.) just pull out, do not remove. then unclip and remove stereo bezzel.
the dash just removes without having to untighten any screws
pull all the knobs for your heater controls off, remove 2 Philips screws pull heater bezzel out (not off completely) then you can pull the radio bezzel off. remove screws and pull stereo out. infinity stereo the amplifier is under the drivers seat.
Remove the decorative stereo cover. Remove the stereo retaining screws. Pull the stereo out. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable.
Remove the retaining cover from your stereo. Remove the stereo retaining bolts. Slide the stereo out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install your new stereo.
