start the game and as you progress you will reach a checkpoint.
when you reach a checkpoint a message saying "checkpoint reached" will appear at the bottom of the top screen.
then, when you have done that, you can turn of your ds and when you switch it on, and select campaighn, you will continue from the checkpoint you reached.
You push start on you DS consul and there it will say it's paused, under continue it will say save the game. Click that every time you want to exit out. It will say do you want to overwrite, you do. if you don't it wont save the game and you'll have to start from the last place you saved it from.
