1. a drinking toast
2. a farewell greeting
3. an expression of gratitude
French tranlations:
1. " votre santé !" or "santé !"
2. "salut !" or "bye !"
3. "merci !" or "super !"
"Santé" or " votre santé" is the most commn way to say "cheers" in French. You could also say " la votre", " la tienne" (in both cases "santé" is implied) or "chin-chin", or in the Corsican way "Pace e Salute".
"Sante" is not a Dutch word, it is a French word. We use it when we want to say "cheers" to someone with a drink (when we call out a toast). The translation of the word is "health". The Dutch way of saying it is "gezondheid", which means the same.

Huh... That's not Italian, it's French ;).... "A votre santé" is what you say when you make a toast. So, it could be translated as "Cheers", but the actual translation is "to your health". In the French tradition one toasts "A votre santé" and the rest of the group responds "a la votre" ("and to yours").
In Cajun French, you would say "bienvenue" to mean welcome.
'à votre santé !' (cheers!)
Santé is the French equivalent of the English cheers. Pronounced as: sahnta
"Cheers" is what you say in Britain!
