The 'au' is pronounced like the 'ow' in the English 'how'. The r is like most of the r's in European languages, a rolling r. The last a is long, close to a Boston kind of a. The mouth opens wider and the tone is a bit louder. 'L-ow-rr-aa'.

There are two ways to say 'granddaughter' in Swedish:- sondotter (son's daughter)- dotterdotter (daughter's daughter)In Swedish, one must distinguish between one's daughter's children and one's son's children. For example, the maternal grandmother of a girl would refer to her as 'dotterdotter'.The word for grandchild is simply barnbarn.
