Opa as in the German word for granddad is "Bestefar" in Norwegian. Some also call their mom's dad "Morfar" and their dad's dad "Farfar".
It can be bestefar (or beste), morfar (mother's father) or farfar (father's father).

It depends if it is the father of the child's father or mother: Farfar = "father's father" Morfar = "mother's father" But you can use "Bestefar" for both grandfathers. I myself use "Besten", which is used a lot in the western coast.
Farfar or morfar, it depends on the side of the family. If it was my mothers father then I would call him morfar but if it was my dads father then I would call him farfar.
