well, this a pretty hard question

You use "going " in many different contexts.

For example:

i'm going to school = Sto andando a scuola

go + ing form is the equivalent of our gerundio : i'm reading , i'm eating.

But if you use "going" for a future intention then it will change the meaning

For example:

I'm going to visit Italy ( linked to a verb ) means :

Ho intenzione di visitare l'Italia ( but i don't know when)

while

I'm going to Italy this summer ( linked to a place) means:

Andrò in Italia quest'estate ( you have already signed it in your calendar)
