To seal the oil pan on a 1986 V6 Comanche, first, ensure the mating surfaces are clean and free of old gasket material or debris. Apply a bead of high-quality RTV silicone gasket maker along the oil pan's edge, ensuring even coverage without gaps. Carefully position the oil pan back onto the engine block, press it into place, and then install the bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer’s specified torque. Allow the sealant to cure according to the product instructions before adding oil and running the engine.
No it is not i think it is inside or beside the oil pan
NEED TO KNOW THE YEAR. Some years had the 2-piece seal and some had the 1-piece seal. All engines after 1986 give are take a month have the 1-piece seal and you must remove the engine are the transmission to replace the seal. OIL Pan does not need to come off. If it is older then a 86 then you will have to remove the oil pan and the oil pump and rear main cap on the crankshaft to replace the seal. Either way BIG JOB.
In the oil pan
Convert 318 oil pan to 360 oil pan
What engine is in it? An inline 6 the pump is in the oil pan A v6 the oil pump most likely is part of the timing chain cover. A v8 engine the oil pump is in the oil pan.
A bad rear seal or the oil pan bolts need tightened down a little.
Which oil seal and which engine?? There's an oil pan gasket, a rear main seal, a front seal, valve cover gaskets, and an oil pump shaft seal, just to name the main ones.
The seal is bad. Drain your fluid and buy the seal, its like 15-20$ install it and put pan back on.
The price would depend on wheather it is a valve cover seal, oil pan seal, or a head gasket.
Drop the oil pan
there are about 12 10mm bolts that hold the oil pan in place. remove them and the pan will drop right down.
You MUST remove the oil pan to change the rear main seal. It's the only way because it is a 2 piece seal that fits in the rear main cap and block.
