In Excel, cell selection is accomplished by highlighting the desired cells. This is done by bringing the cursor to the desired cell, left clicking and holding the button down while dragging the mouse. So click on A3 and drag down to F3.

Click on B4 or on E4. Then press and hold the right mouse button and drag towards to the other cell. Another way is to start in either cell and then with the Shift key held down, use the arrow keys to move towards the other cell. Within a formula, you can refer to them as B4:E4, like in the formula:

=SUM(B4:E4)

What is better to use in adding cells that are not aligned in any row or column?

There are various ways you could do it, all of which just involve listing the cells. For example, each of these will do the same thing:=A3+C4+D10+F34+K90+V24=SUM(A3,C4,D10,F34,K90,V24)=SUBTOTAL(9,A3,C4,D10,F34,K90,V24)The 9 in the SUBTOTAL function tells Excel to add the listed cells. There are various ways you could do it, all of which just involve listing the cells.
