When you see "divided" after an ingredient in a recipe such as, "Two tablespoons olive oil, divided". This means you may be using one Tbs one place or time and the other Tbs at a different time or place. =two tablespoons.
In another example you may be using one TBS in the recipe itself and one in a frying pan for a total of two. It's less confusing to a cook than having the same ingredient listed multiple times.
Hello there,
I had this same problem and i was wondering how to divide a liquid. Anyway, i did copy this from Yahoo answers and well here it is:
What that means is that if it calls for 4 tablespoons of olive oil...the recipe wants to use 2 tablespoons for one part and 2 tablespoons for another part of the recipe..therefore you are dividing the total of 4 tablespoons. That is just an example. Read over the entire recipe and you will see that the olive oil will be used in 2 different occasions in the recipe; maybe some to coat the pan and some in with the other ingredients.
Hope this helps,Angela Logotoyoroyo Hooroslavicatic
When a recipe calls for divided olive oil, it means, for an example it calls for 2 table spoon,s so its going to use 1 tablespoon of oil in two separate parts of the recipe, hope that helps.
