If the belt has snapped with the engine running the valves in the cylinderhead will be bent, you will have to remove the head to fix it anyway.
belt diagam for 1.6 v astra
Wt is the opel astra160i camshaft settings
You remove no pulleys. Just loosen the belt and then remove the alternator.
Brake light switch has most likely come adrift from it's fitting
how much does a cam shaft cost please on a vauxhall astra, 1996, 1.4litre engine size?
what year is the astra, timing belts in my experience are usually found on the left hand side of the engine block. it conects the cylinder head to the bottom endof the engine via a system of pulleys.
whats the worst that can happen? you can bend valves depending on how you handle the motor... i just purchased an astra estate 1600i with a snapped cam belt and i replaced the belt and still driving like a dream.
There would be no point in the car maker fitting an immobilizer that could be easily over-ridden.
hi on astra 1.6 8 valve 2001 mk 4 it is located left side of head top hose connects to it, not a quick job, remove camshaft belt and inner cover to get at it, hope this helps. jj
there is no cam belt on 2.2 astra its a chain, BUT beware coz these snap with no warning and have a nice price tag for repair, I have just paid out £2000.00 because mine snapped with no warning. Vauxhall say it dont need changing it should last the life of the engine but this is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!
its behind the camshaft pully you have to remove the timing belt then the camshft pully to get to the thermostat and its housing bit of a nasty job really!!
The Astra is a hatcback and I think you can get it in sedan.
