What might be the problem when the water from the heater is not hot but warm?

If its a gas water heater then it may be a bad thermostat or the temperature is set very low or in some cases the wind from a storm could blow the pilot flame out and in time the water turns warm then cold. If its a electric water heater it could be that the bottom element is not working or the dip tube is damaged or the set water temperature is set on low.

What does insulating a water heater do?

makes the water stay at the set temperature longer plus keeps the water heater off longer.

How does a water heater work?

"A water heater stores water in a tank and heats the water with a flame at the bottom. The hot water rises to the top of the tank, while the colder water falls to the bottom near the heat source." A water heater is simply a tank of water with a heat source at the bottom. It can be set to a certain temperature and is dispersed throughout the home through the water infrastructure.

Will it hurt your hot water heater to use all the hot water?

Hot water heaters (tank/storage type) have a supply line connected to your city or well water. The heater is either on or off depending on the temperature you set on that device. You will not hurt the system as it is designed to constantly heat the water until the temperature is raised to your set point. So the answer is that it neither hurts or helps you HWH.

Turn Down The Heat On Your Water Heater?

Many homeowners do not realize that they can adjust the heat settings on their home's water heater. Although you can set your water heater to heat water until it is very hot, it is a good idea to keep your water heater's settings turned down to a lower temperature. Heating your water to a very hot temperature wastes energy. Additionally, if the water in your shower or sink is too hot, it could scald members of your household. Keep your water heater adjusted so that it does not cause burns or waste energy.

If you set pool heat pump at temperature above the temperature you want will the pool heat up quicker For example setting it at 100 when you want pool at 80 quick?

It works this way. Even if you could set the thermostat at 200 it will not heat the water any quicker. It sounds as if you have an undersized heater. A larger heater will heat the water faster if your system can upgrade to the larger size heater. Your house will not heat up any faster if you set the thermostat to maximum. It is the output capacity of the heater that determines how fast it will heat. What dictates heater size is: the size of the gas line. the length of the gas line run from the meter to the heater. the size of the meter. how many GPM the pump is producing. the GPM capacity of the filter. the size of the plumbing in you pool ~ 1.5"; 2"; 3" total gallons in the pool. are among a few. Just common sense here...... k
