The distributor is synched to zero degrees with a scan tool, it can not be done with a timing light.
This is set electronically by the computer...nothing to set.Answerthe only wayto look at the timing is to set up a timing light and look at the crankshaft pully. but there is no way to set it on this truck
there is still some degree of "timing" ie setting the timing chain up correctly, otherwise no degree of computer advance or retardation can fix it. but there should be marks on both the cam and the crank along with the engine block to line it up right There is no need to set the timing on the 4.0l engine, sensors tell the computer where the crankshaft is, and the computer decides when to inject fuel, how much fuel to inject, when and how much spark to be at the optimum efficiancy. The days of being concerned with how to set the timing are history, the computer is able to adjust the timing as it runs, and make the adjustments per conditions at all times while it is running.
how do u check timing in a 40 hp yamaha 2 stroke
Sadly this is gonna require a visit to the dealer. Plan on spending $40 or so to get this done. Every Jeep from 1996 or so onward will need a dealer program to get keyless working.
50 50 coolant is what i use- would suggest no more han a 60 40 mix.
The timing for a 1996 ford escort 4 cylinder engine should be 6 degrees BTDC. If it's a CVH model, 12 degrees. If it's on a distributorless engine or programmed ignition system, it can't be adjusted. Contact breaker distance should be (on a bosch distributor) .40 to .50 mm. On a Lucas distributor, .40 to .49 mm.
You need to contact the cam manufacturer. Usually 32-40 BTDC @ 3000 rpm.
Small Talk - 1996 1-40 was released on: USA: 22 November 1996
32:1 or 40:1 depending on set up , plus always use 91 octane .

you can get an edelbrock timing chain from summit racing for about 40 bucks
