I only know about the 2004 V6 I have. There is no way to set the timing. The engine computer controls the timing. Not much one can do to newer cars today. Some of the members of the Toyota Nation forum are interested in more power and performance. Maybe one of them can tell you how to set the timing. Do this with the vacuum advance disconnected. Then with the timing set at 12 with the engine at idle, hook up the vacuum line to the distributor and see that the timing now shows somewhere in the high 20's to low 30's of timing.
