You cant. Goldfish need much bigger tanks. 20-30 gallons. I bought 2 goldfish when I was new to aquarium hobby and put them in a 5 Gallon tank. The first one died in just one and a half day. The other one died just hours after the first one :(

So if I were you, I would get a bigger tank.

How many medium sized goldfish can you keep in a ten-gallon tank?

That depends on the size of the goldfish. This useful formula might come in handy:5 cm fish in 250ml of water10 cm fish in 500ml of waterand etc.Answer: 0A goldfish needs a tank that's at least 30 gallons to thrive(plus another 10 gallons for each additional goldfish). This may seem like a lot for just a goldfish, but most goldfish will grow over 6 inches long and have the potential to grow over 10-12 inches. Even if the goldfish is very small it is still best to keep it in a large tank because it will soon grow very large. hope this helpsI was told by a pet store employee once that goldfish are very dirty fish and 1 per gallon was a good rule of thumb.

How often do you have to clean out a goldfish without a filter?

Every Second! Gold Fish are Very messy and need a filter to keep them alive. I suggest you put your Goldfish in a pond. Make sure there is more than one, Goldfish have friends just like you and me. You have 3 large goldfish one is sudently turned black they are in a 2.5 gallon fish tank please help what do you do?

AMMONIA BURNS! common goldfish need huge tanks of 50+ gallons and not even babies should be in a 2.5 gallon tank. They grow to well over a foot. Do daily 50% or more water changes as toxins will build up fast. Buy a 55+ gallon tank, or rehome them. Maybe a local fish store will try to save them. Good luck :)

How many fish can you put in the 20 gallon tank?

1 goldfish. It may seem tiny now, but they grow up to be around 6 inches. Add 10 gallons for each additional goldfish. Example: 20 gallons + 2 more goldfish (10 gallons) = 40 gallons and 3 goldfish total.

Does a goldfish have live fish birth?

Goldfish are egg-spawners. If you want to breed them, you need: * two aquariums--a 20-gallon spawning tank, and a 10-gallon grow-out tank. Neither one should have gravel or a filter in it. * a male and a female goldfish, both at least three years old * baby goldfish food Put about three inches of water in the grow-out tank. Put the adult goldfish in the spawning tank. When the goldfish are ready to spawn, the male will chase the female all over the tank. When she gets tired enough, she will scatter eggs all over the tank, and the male will spray his milt all over the tank. The milt will turn the water cloudy. Now for the fun part: you have to wait until the water clears, then scoop up all the eggs and put them in the other tank. Goldfish will eat their own eggs. Then cover the other tank, wait until they hatch, and start feeding the little fish.

How do you quarantine newly purchased ranchu goldfish?

Setup a 10-20 gallon tank (no gravel or ornaments are needed) fill it with water, condition it using a de-chlorinator. Purchase an aerator and a simple sponge filter- set these both up in the tank and have them running for a good 72 hours before adding your goldfish. Acclimate the goldfish by adding a few cups of tank water to the water the fish is in currently. Once the fish is acclimated, you can then add it to the quarantine tank. There the fish will live for the next 2-4 weeks as you meticulously check it for any signs of disease. It is also, just as a precaution (especially if you plan to add this fish in with your goldfish collection), recommended to treat the fish for flukes using an antiparasitic medication and by raising the salt concentration in the tank to .3%.
