President John Tyler's nickname was the "Accidental President" or "His Accidency". He received this nickname because he was the first president to hold the office without being elected to it. William Henry Harrison died shortly after taking office and Tyler was his vice president.
He was 58 when he took office and turned 59 shortly thereafter. He left office at 67.
