Open the printers and Faxes window or Printers Window. Right-click the printer you want to share, and select Sharing from the shortcut menu. The printer's Properties dialog box opens; the dialog box in Windows 2000 is similar. Select Share this printer and enter a name for the printer.

What group do you need to be a member of to share a printer?

Windows has two types of permissions: users, and groups. If your printer security allows a specific group to print, your user must be a member of that group. If it requires a specific user, you must log in as that user to use the printer. If the printer allows the special user "Everyone" to print, you shouldn't have to log in to print, unless you are a member of a domain, in which case there may be a group policy restricting your use of the printer.
