on an 18 speed there are 2 switches on the gear shift one switches between low taio, intermediate and high the other switches between high and low in each gear so you sart out in LOW 1st,then split the first gear to go to high first. then you change to 2nd gear, using first switch to go to 2nd low u do this for the complete shift pattern of 5 gears then u use second switch and go to intermediate ratio,at the same time using first switch and going back to start of shift pattern you then use second switch and split all gears thru shift pattern next you use second switch again to go to high ratio(overdrive),at same time using first switch to go back to low and shift gear back again to start of shift pattern you then again use first switch all the way thru shift pattern.down shifting is exact opposite of upshifting takes practice to get it right note that unless on a hill and really loaded down you will usually not have to use low 1st and depending on load and terrain dictates if you need to use full 18 gears with practice you will learn how to skip some gears.
Allison doesn't make an 18 speed transmission.
No you cannot change a 13 to a 18 speed, however you can change a 18 speed to a 13 speed just by changing the shift knob.
No you can not, it is a different transmission. The 18 speed has a splitter for the lower range as well as high range.
shift it foward
The speed sensor sends a signal to the speedometer to show the correct speed and it sends a signal to the transmission telling when to shift. If the speed sensor is bad the speedometer will not work and the transmission will not shift correctly.
I want to see the shift patterns
yes
how do you put gear shift back into 1993 ford f-150 5 speed transmission
It's the same as the shift pattern for the Eaton Fuller nine speed transmissions, albeit with additional gears on the low side. For the sake of not wanting to type out a long winded explanation, there is a related link posted - 'Eaton Fuller 18 speed shifting diagram'. Click on that link to see a visual representation of the shift pattern.
It shifts itself.
It's a nine speed transmission, so see the related link for a diagram. The diagram is actually of a 13 speed transmission - the difference with the nine speed is that it doesn't have the High/Low settings for the top side. The nine speed "H" pattern is the same basic pattern used for the 8LL, 13, and 18 speed transmissions.
what are you wanting to take the transmission out completely or what?
