To shim a body panel is to add a shim to bring the panel out so it is flush and smooth with the adjacent panel. Shims are thin flat U shaped pieces of metal. You loosen the bolt holding the panel and slide your shim or shims between the fender or body panel and chasis on the loosened bolt. Tighten it down good and check the fit. Piece of cake. Luck.
