I am not of the opinion that The Bible should be a lovely gold-edged book in a beautiful case and kept in a locked cupboard out of reverence or awe, as are some holy scriptures of other religions. The best way to respect the Holy Bible is to get a working student Bible and actually read it. Although I have several translations of the Bible on my shelves, the two I use most are a new copy of the New Revised Standard Bible (the last one fell apart), and a student bible (New International Version) that is itself falling apart and full of notes scribbled in the margins and bits of paper and post-it notes stuck throughout to draw attention to parts during Bible Study. God's revelation of himself through scripture is meant to be studied and enjoyed, and this can only be done by reading and studying scripture. This is the greatest respect that one can show to his word. If you do not know of a Bible Study group in your local church, then either buy beginners Bible Study notes from a Christian bookshop or look online for many free sites that specialise in Bible study. Use reputable Christian sites (whatever denomination) but avoid sites run by the Mormons (as they have very unorthodox beliefs) and the Jehovah's Witnesses (or Watchtower Society) as their preferred Bible, the New World Translation, is not recognised as a good translation by any Christian Church and will mislead you terribly.
