Right click on the Desktop. A drop down menu will appear, click Properties. In the Display Properties tab click the Appearance tab. Click the Advanced button. Select Icon from the drop down menu. Change the default 32 px icon to something like 25 px or whatever you want. Your icons will now be smaller.
