i have a 98 ford expedition xlt the remote does not work how do i reset the alarm so it will work
There isn't a reset button for a factory system. The only systems that had any ind of button, were the dealer installed units, and a button on those isn't a "reset" button, but it is a programming button. The factory units don't have a programming button, because they are not programmable.
To disable the factory alarm system on a Ford Ranger, you would have to disconnect the remote entry module (REM). However, if you do that, the keyless remote and driver's door keypad will no longer work.
The 1993 Ford Ranger does not have an alarm override but. You can override the alarm system by removing the alarm system fuse.
turn it off with the remote or you must use the key in the door.
Are you sure you're setting the alarm and not accidentally hitting the panic button?
the factory alarm remote may need to be re-programmed it olnly involves a series of ingnition turns and button pushes on the remote but you'll need to contact the dealership for specific instructions The manual that came with the car tells you how to reprogram the remote , and if you don't have one the manual can be downloaded from www.ford.com in PDF form.
