It depends. If you prefer to know every bit of the story, then I would strongly recommend playing Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories* before playing Kingdom Hearts II. It is not completely necessary, however, due to the constant recap and explanation throughout the series.Most would consider Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories a filler, or a side-game, but it does have some important content, such as the introduction of Organization XIII, as well as the reason why the characters are where they are at the start of Kingdom Hearts II.*Note: If you don't have a Gameboy Advance, you could just as easily get Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories (a remake for the PlayStation 2). This will help explain the story just as well, if not better, than the GBA title.

Sora, Riku and Kairi are in Kingdom Hearts III. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep is the game that you are most likely referring to, which introduces new characters and events that happen 10 years previous to the first Kingdom Hearts. The trailer for Birth By Sleep was shown as a secret video at the end of Kingdom Hearts II, and is commonly thought to be Kingdom Hearts III but this is not the case. In an interview with Tetsuya Nomura (Director/Character Designer for the Kingdom Hearts series) he states that Birth By Sleep is "episode 0" because it holds as much importance as Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2, but is NOT Kingdom Hearts 3. when sora gets trapped by final xemnas you have to use riku to free him, that copy that xemnas does is quite frustrating you need to attack him or he will push you back to the start and you will not be able to save sora,when you get close to the real xemnas a RC(reaction command) will appear on the command box JUST PRESS IT and done

You can't, at the start you use a wooden sword, and the default keyblade is always Kingdom Key.
