You could say "Yo estaba el gracioso".
You would say 'you're too funny' in Spanish as "a su gracioso'.
Soy - I am (permanent state of being) I am funny/happy by nature. Estoy - I am (location, or temporary state of being) I am at home, I am happy (at the moment)
'you are funny' = tú eres divertido/a (male/female) The above (divertido/a) is usually translated as "fun" not "funny". To be clear that you are commenting on somebody being "funny" use the adjective "gracioso/a" instead.
