flush out cooling system, install a new 160 degree thermostat, make sure radiator isn't plugged up, install a radiator shroud with a 6 bladed fan blade, you can also add a product called water wetter to the radiator and it will lower the temperature by 10 degrees, summit racing sells it.
There are also two seals behind the metal plate behind the water pump that have to be replaced. As they get old they harden, crack and cause an internal leak in the engine so that the water circulates only at the front of the block preventing the water from travelling through the entire block. The sleeve assembly part number from GM was 9796347

In order to stop the car from overheating, your going to have to find the underlying cause. If you do not have expertise in this area, you will have to find someone who does. Maybe a friend or a mechanic. I would recommend you do this immediately. Extreme overheating can damage the engine.

Water is needed to stop the engine from overheating.
Replacing a bad water pump can help to stop a motor from overheating. Hopefully that was the cause of the overheating. If it does not stop the overheating, try replacing the thermostat. Make sure you have the proper mix of antifreeze and water, the radiator filled with it. Check the level of coolant FIRST. Next, the hoses, and third the thermostat. Then, disconnect a hose and see if, by starting the vehicle, if there's water pressure. If not, its water pump time!
