You can't stop it once it is started. It also sounds like you need heavier protection. Get rid of the tampon. If you are young ( preteen or teen) you shouldn't be using a tampon at your age. Go to the store and get a heavy flow pad. Hormones determine when you start your period and when you will end it. There is nothing you can do. Your period may go from 3-10 days and this is really true if you have just started. So, settle down, get to the store, and live with it. You have just become a woman.

There's no need to stop your period anyway, there's absolutely nothing that you can't do during menstruation. You can do things like swimming by using tampons or menstrual cups so you can go in the water without leaking. You can have mess-free sex on your period using soft tampons or softcups to stop blood leaving your body while still allowing vaginal penetration.
