The problem can be fixed by increasing RAM of the system or your program is not installed properly and needs to be installed properly.
You can close the not responding program by going to task manager and going to the process and ending it.
i would say you would need more RAM or a better CPU, either that or there is something wrong with the programs file. can you send me your computer specifications and what the program is so i can decide what your problem is?

The only time Windows Vista automatically closes programs is when it is performing a system restart after an update. You can stop this from happening by turning off automatic updates.
