Hamsters mate as long as they are both of different sex and have a close relationship , they cannot mate if they are too young

When the time is right, in mating season and when your hamster is mature, or old enough to mate, then they will. Place the Male in the female's cage. If the female injures the male, try again later, she is not ready. Female hamsters will kill males. If the female accepts the male, he goes over to investigate. The breeding will begin when the female makes a position called Lordosis. She stays perfectly still and raises her tail. Even experienced males have trouble if the female's tail gets in the way, etc. Eventually, the male will mount the female, breed, and dismount. This may have to happen several times for it to work. You cannot mate dwarfs with syrians or dwarfs with other dwarf species. (Ex. robo and campbell's russian)

Well put them in the same cage and if u have tried to mate them before and they did not like it be sure to watch the first few minuites to make sure they do not fight and supply extra extra extra extra food and water so they will not fight for it and keep them together at the most 12 hours and eventually they should just do it it is an instict they have and remember to keep a pair of gloves by the cage incase they start to fight and u need to pull them apart so they will not bite u i speak from personal experience

The only way to stop your hamsters from having babies to make sure that you keep the two genders separate. Hamsters can mate at only a few weeks old (and yes, brothers and sisters will mate), so you should separate the males from the females as soon as they are old enough to be away from their mother.
