Space is different from distance. Often just a few changes help. Some suggestions: Don't quiz her on where she's been, what she's been doing, and who she's been with. Don't drop by without warning, and don't call, expecting an answer, at almost any time. Don't advise her unless asked; and even then, answer simply and stop. Don't "send messages" that tell her she's expected to be, say, or do things the way you want. Don't offer unsolicited "constructive" opinions. Appreciate her, and let her know you do, but don't overwhelm her. Be conscious and respectful of her feelings. If you don't know what she's feeling, quiet your own thoughts and pay more attention to hers. Or, at least, ask. None of this means to ignore or reject her. But guys may have to consciously, purposefully reform they way they deal with others, especially girl friends. Most guys find these hints useful at any time; they help keep from getting to the point in the first place where the girl friend asks for more space.
