Let go the pedal abit wait for gear to automatic change then acceleration again, when in certain speed gears will change but if rev too high the gear wont go in. so at certain speed u have to decelerate to allow gear to change.
If the transmission oil been change beware to use correct oil and the level of the transmission oil, if insufficient it will tent to rev really high before changing gear
bad or going bad alternator belt
An engine revving to high RPMs could be a symptom of many conditions. The potential cause?æalso depends on whether this happens?æwhile idling or while driving.
Because you're stepping on the gas pedal.
When bulbs on a Toyota Corolla are working but one is not, it is usually a burnt out bulb. You can change this yourself.
could be a bad water pump or a loose alternator belt
It is possible that the transmission bands are out of adjustment. They are not able to engage because of the maladjustment.

If the vehicle drives fine, then it is the ECU protecting your engine/drivetrain. Engineers add this to the ECU to keep the geniuses of our society from over revving the engine or revving it high and dumping it into drive. It is there for a reason, so be happy it works.
your sunfire is revving if the idle is set to high, or when adjusted. the idle is high also when the engine needs to warm up in cold weather. there is also the possibility that the engine temp sensor needs to be replaced, for it is not relaying proper heat temp. the light on your dash may show you engine temp, check this. if unable to do this yourself, you may need your cars manual.
Either the idle is adjusted to high or the cam on the choke is stuck in the closed position
Not necessarily, they have different uses. Gasoline is better in small, high revving engines and diesel is much better for larger, slower engines in general.
