How do you stop your dad from drinking if you're scared to talk to him?

Here's what you do: Stop bein' a panzy, and shove your @ss in his face, and make him go @ss to mouth with you. If he's too busy pulling butt hair from his teeth, he won't be able to drink, or hit your scrawny @ss.

∙ 14y agoIt is not your job to stop your dad from drinking, and that's a good thing. The reason? Because -- put simply -- you can't.
No one can stop an alcoholic from drinking. They will not stop until continuing to drink is more frightening than not drinking. Alcoholics are addicted to alcohol, which is a drug like any other drug. They have no more choice about drinking than you do about eating. Try going for 24 hours without anything to eat, and then imagine what it is like to need something in your body or you believe you will die.
What IS possible is for you to deal with the issues that your father's addiction has brought into your life. By doing that, you will learn more about the disease of Alcoholism, and how to be ready to help your father when he is ready to be helped.
Please see the link below for places and times of meetings of Al-Anon and Alateen. Those people have been where you are, and can help you deal with this whole terrible mess.
