Steps to swaddling a baby:
Lay the blanket flat on a surface and lay the baby in the middle of the top of the blanket with his/her head off the blanket.
Pull one side of the blanket snugly, but not tightly, over the baby. Be sure the baby's arms are in a comfortable position. Tuck the blanket gently under the baby.
Pull the bottom of the blanket over the baby and gently tuck it under the shoulder.
Wrap the remaining side of the blanket around the baby, making sure it is not too tight.
Swaddle the baby and turn on some white noise.

If you're looking for swaddle blankets in particular, we got some big ones from Carter's which worked really well. When our son got a little bigger though, he was able to break the swaddle so we started using Swaddle-Me's which he couldn't get out of no matter how hard he tried. They close with velcrow. I'd recommend those, plus they come in all sizes.
