How would you know if a function is linear or non-linear just by looking at a input-output table?

I don't know that you can do it just by looking at one. (At least, I'm not clever enough with arithmetic to do that.) But it's possible to do it using some simple aritmetic. Here's an input-output table.5 386 457 528 59The first thing I notice is that the numbers in the left-hand column are evenly spaced; the difference between any two of them is just one. The differences between all of the numbers in the right-hand column are also all the same, seven. So this input-output table represents a linear function. In case you're working in a slightly more advanced situation here's another example:3 117 239 2913 41In this case the left-hand column numbers are not evenly spaced and I can't just look at the differences between the numbers on the left. However, there's a slightly more advanced technique that I can apply.( 23 - 11 ) / ( 7 - 3 ) = 12 / 4 = 3( 29 - 23 ) / ( 9 - 7 ) = 6 / 2 = 3( 41 - 29 ) / ( 13 - 9 ) = 12 / 4 = 3The three slopes are the same. Therefore, the input-output table represents a linear function.

Who is Jesus Christ and what is His mission to the world?

Jesus Christ is God's son, and he loved the world so much he died for us so that we may be saved. His mission to the world to save people's lives so that if they repent they may be saved.Another answer Jesus Christ was a great teacher who lived in Palestine almost 2,000 years ago. Very little is known about his childhood. (Matthew, chapters 1 and 2; Luke, chapters 1 and 2) When he became 30 years of age, Jesus started his ministry to "bear witness to the truth." (John 18:37; Luke 3:21-23) The four historical reporters of Jesus' life focused on his public ministry, the last three and a half years of his earthly sojourn. During his ministry, Jesus gave his disciples the key to dealing with various problems in their lives. What was that key? It was love. In one of the best-known sermons in history, called the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught his disciples how to show love for fellow humans. He said: "All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them." (Matthew 7:12) This principle is called the Golden Rule. The "men" that Jesus referred to here include even one's enemies. In the same sermon, he said: "Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you." (Matthew 5:44) Would not such love solve many of the problems that we face today? Hindu leader Mohandas Gandhi thought so. He is quoted as saying: "When [we] shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this Sermon on the Mount, we shall have solved the problems . . . of the whole world." Jesus' teachings on love, if applied, can cure mankind's ills.Another answerJesus Christ is the son of GOD. The second person in the Holy Trinity. GOD in the flesh. He was sent to earth to save his people from their sins. He accomplished this by dying on a cross, and rising again. The perfect lamb of GOD. This is foretold in the old testament scriptures and fulfilled in the new testament. All who put their faith and trust in Jesus and what he has accomplished for them will be saved. By grace you have been saved, through faith in Jesus Christ, not by good works, so no man can boast. By Christ and Him only we are saved. Another answerJesus Christ was God's one and only Son. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 His mission to the world was to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10) He came and lived a perfect life, not sinning once, and died on the cross. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23. If you don't have a personal relationship with God, you can ask Him into your heart. Ask Him to forgive you for your sins, and He will.Another answerChristians believe that Jesus Christ was the founder of their religion. The Christian gospels say that he was born in the Judean town of Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod the Great, who died in April 4 BC. They say that he preached great moral truths and healed the sick, then was executed by crucifixion in Jerusalem, by the orders of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. In the gospel stories, Jesus did not really enunciate a mission to the world, but Christians believe that his crucifixion was part of a divine plan that would allow God to forgive mankind its sins. On this view, his mission was to become known, so that people would believe and be saved. Against this, Mark's Gospel says that Jesus frequently commanded those he healed not to tell others about him, suggesting that he really did not want himself to become known.Another answer Jesus Christ is the son of God.He was born into this world about two thousand years ago, (that's where A.D. comes from: In the year of our Lord.) He came to forgive our sins and give us life. When he was thirty-three, he died on a cross as a sacrifice to pay for our sins. His mission is to free us, take care of us, and be worshiped by us. He is love.Another answerChristians believe that there is one God and that Jesus is the Son of God, at the same time equal to God and the Holy Spirit as a person of the godhead known as the Holy Trinity. They believe that the mission of Jesus was to forgive sins and thereby save those who believe. Another answerJesus Christ is the son of GOD. Another answer He is the only god. He is the savoir. He will take away all sins and keep people from damnation. He died on the cross and rose from the dead so you and every 1 else may be saved (John 3:16)Jesus Christ is the son of GOD. The second person in the Holy Trinity. GOD in the flesh. He was sent to earth to save his people from their sins. He accomplished this by dying on a cross, and rising again. The perfect lamb of GOD. This is foretold in the old testament scriptures and fulfilled in the new testament.Jesus said in John 18:37 "In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth." It was a lie that brought sin into the world, but God sent his one and only Son (Jesus) to die on the cross so that we can inherit eternal life and be with him forever, if we confess and forsake all our sin and trust Jesus for salvation.Jesus Christ is our Lord, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages.Jesus Christ is the son of God. God sent his son to Earth in the form of a baby to save the world of its sins. Jesus died on the cross for all people, and raised again 3 days later. Jesus said that the only way to Heaven is through him.God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them! -- John 3:17"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." This saying is true, and it can be trusted. I was the worst sinner of all! -- 1 Timothy 1:15God sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. We saw his Son and are now telling others about him. -- 1 John 4:14God has done it all! He sent Christ to make peace between himself and us, and he has given us the work of making peace between himself and others. -- 2 Corinthians 5:18No one is really willing to die for an honest person, though someone might be willing to die for a truly good person. But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful. But there is more! Now that God has accepted us because Christ sacrificed his life's blood, we will also be kept safe from God's anger. Even when we were God's enemies, he made peace with us, because his Son died for us. Yet something even greater than friendship is ours. Now that we are at peace with God, we will be saved by his Son's life. And in addition to everything else, we are happy because God sent our Lord Jesus Christ to make peace with us. -- Romans 5:7-11Just as we will die because of Adam, we will be raised to life because of Christ. Adam brought death to all of us, and Christ will bring life to all of us. -- 1 Corinthians 15:21-22And you gave him power over all people, so that he would give eternal life to everyone you give him. Eternal life is to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, the one you sent. I have brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything you gave me to do. -- John 17:2-4Everything and everyone that the Father has given me will come to me, and I won't turn any of them away. I didn't come from heaven to do what I want! I came to do what the Father wants me to do. He sent me, and he wants to make certain that none of the ones he has given me will be lost. Instead, he wants me to raise them to life on the last day. My Father wants everyone who sees the Son to have faith in him and to have eternal life. Then I will raise them to life on the last day. -- John 6:37-40And God was pleased for him to make peace by sacrificing his blood on the cross, so that all beings in heaven and on earth would be brought back to God. You used to be far from God. Your thoughts made you his enemies, and you did evil things. But his Son became a human and died. So God made peace with you, and now he lets you stand in his presence as people who are holy and faultless and innocent. -- Colossians 1:20-22Christ has made peace between Jews and Gentiles, and he has united us by breaking down the wall of hatred that separated us. Christ gave his own body to destroy the Law of Moses with all its rules and commands. He even brought Jews and Gentiles together as though we were only one person, when he united us in peace. On the cross Christ did away with our hatred for each other. He also made peace between us and God by uniting Jews and Gentiles in one body. -- Ephesians 2:14-16Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.To firmly introduce the knowing quality which is what he represents to each of us, and to teach how to reach for the Christ consciousness in each of usThe mission of Jesus was to make everyone happy and live in a world where we are all equal. Jesus was God in man form. He realized his children needed a living breathing flesh and bone man to walk with them and teach by example the right way to live and the way to return to their creator, him. God also had laws, one of which was if sins were committed, a sacrifice of an animal would have to be made. Jesus was that sacrifice for all mankind. That is why he is referred to as the lamb of God. To summarize, Jesus came to earth to teach and die, so that you would live.Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost.Matthew 5:18: For verily I (Jesus)say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and s hall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Luke 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. (Jesus) John 10:10 (King James Version)10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Jesus came to give abundant life. This is further described in the start of the Gospel of John. Since Jesus is Himself the creator of life, He knows all about it. The light He brought is something that clearly demonstrates who He is and also reveals the wickedness and deceptions of people, which leads them into spiritual darkness and death. John 1:1-41In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 2 Timothy 1:1010But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:Jesus Christ, the son of a living God. Who came to earth through an earthly mother and whose father was God.His mission while here upon the earth was to bring to pass the immortality and eternal live of all mankind. He taught us how to live by His example, and by His teachings. He taught "As I have loved you, love one another". The King James Bible says his mission was to seek and to save sinners, and to give His life to pay for their sins. Luke 19:10 "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Matthew 20:28 "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."Jesus Christ is the only son of god , he came to die on the cross for our sins, so that we could have salvation. On the Direct Descendants of Jesus and Mary Magdalene website, Desposyni's website: http://www.desposynichurch.org/Basically, the golden rule.......... Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Luke 12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. Luke 22:36 He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.Jesus is the son of God, his mission for this world was to tell about sin and he made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can be forgiven for our sins by dying on the cross.

How was the world created according to Christian belief?

The word used in the Hebrew scriptures which is translated as 'day', yom , has indeed a variety of meanings according to context. Included in these is an indefinite period of time. When it is qualified by 'evening and morning' it can only mean a day of 24 hours as we know it today. This is even acknowledge by those who do not believe the account to be true, and re-interpret it due to their beliefs, to be the original and intended meaning. The days, in their intended meaning are not symbolic but literal, even though they are given a different meaning due to extra-Biblical beliefs about origins.Christians believe that the world was created by the word of God. Since God is almighty He can use any means He wishes to bring something into being such as the forming of Adam from the earth, although Adam, like all other humans, was obviously much more than earth. Basically God spoke and it happened. Although obviously all the incredible detail such as in the DNA sequence, for example, was in the mind of God when He spoke, since, if He had to spell out every detail, the creation would not be finished yet and we would not be here. (this latter thought being the personal view of the poster of this answer - there probably being a number of different Christian views as to what 'the word of God' in relation to the creation actually means).Hebrews 11:33Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.John 1:1-41In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God.3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.Heb 1:1-3 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself made purification of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"Heb 1:10-12 "And, You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the works of Your hands. They shall perish; but You remain: and they all shall become old as does a garment; And as a vesture will You fold them up, and they shall be changed; but You are the same, and Your years shall not fail."GENESIS:Heaven and Earth, formless and unfilled and dark and deep and watery, with the Spirit of God moving; to the left and right, to the top and bottom, to the front and back, and then residing in the centre; the Love In God's Harmonic Tones produced LIGHT; it was good, and with its division, then came night; and the evening and the morning were the first day ever, as intergalactic dimensional duration began with the first seven days of the space/time continuum.Light, with Day and Night spoken into beingSky spoken into beingLand, Sea, and Plants spoken into beingSun, Moon, and Stars spoken into beingAnimals of the sea and air spoken into beingAnimals of the land, and Man in the image of God spoken into beingRest taken by God at the end of a very creative weekHow long is a day? While the bible uses the term "7 days" to explain the time period Jehovah used to create the earth, these are simply symbolic days. The Hebrew word translated 'day' has a variety of meanings, including 'a long time; the time covering an extraordinary event.' The term used allows for the thought that each 'day' could have been thousands of years in length.*All information comes from a book called "Reasoning from the Scriptures," published in 1989 by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.From a Mormon PerspectiveMatter has always existed, therefore it cannot be created neither can it be destroyed. It also has intelligence as does everything in this world. Because it has intelligence God is able to command all matter, whatever it size to do his bidding, for he has the power to do so. As has already been stated we do not know just how long God took to gather all of the matter together, not that it matters. The fact that God was able to command the intelligence which matter had, to form the earth and the seas is in accord with gospel principles.According to Genesis, the world was created by the Word of God. The words "And God said let there be..." are repeated throughout the general account in Genesis chapter 1. Thus, the God who can call things into existence merely by speaking them (obviously as an expression of His thought and intention of how they were to be, with all their incredibly complex constituent parts, DNA etc.) is indeed almighty and to be both feared and praised.Genesis 1God, who existed before all else, created the heavens and the earth and all that dwell therein. Here is the scripture for the creation story from the book of Genesis in the Bible: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day. 6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning-the second day. 9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning-the third day. 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights-the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning-the fourth day. 20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." 23 And there was evening, and there was morning-the fifth day. 24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [b] and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him;male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food." And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixth day.Genesis 21 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested [a] from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
