Depends what you want to use them for. The iPad is more of a computer, and can do so much more then the iPod. If you wanna just listen to music and play games, get an iPod.

You can't transfer the music for iPod to the computer unless you transfered the music to the ipods disk before. (to transfer music to the ipods disk you have to go to my computer/iPod/--what ever ipods file you have--/and put it on there) after you transfer the songs you want to the ipods disk you can then transfer only those songs onto a different computer. Itunes doesnt allow you to use more than one library that's why you have to put the songs on the "disk" first.
What is better Ipod touch or laptop and why?

How do you add songs on an iPod?
There are multiple ways to do this, if your computer recognizes your ipod as a media player then you can simply open it through going to my computer and selecting the storage disk that represents your ipod. Another way to do this is to selecting "open folder to view files" when the "autoplay" window pops up after plugging your ipod in. With either of these options a window will open and you can simply copy the mp3 music files that you have on your computer and pasting it in to the ipod folder. The more "apple" way to insert music is by using itunes, with itunes your ipod will be recognized and possibly automatically synced. With the sync any music stored in the itunes library will be automatically placed on your ipod. If this does not work then you can copy the music and paste it in the ipod folder that will appear in itunes. This folder setting can be acquired by expanding the ipod options on the left side (if they arn't already expanded), selecting music and then pasting. Hope this works! Best of luck! :)

i would rather have an ipod thouch because you can have a lot of different apps and you can do almost everything on one as you can on a computer and it is more portable!
Can you move songs from one library to another?
Get a Zune, or, you can put your iPod in disk mode and put songs on it through Windows Explorer. To do this, open iTunes and and connect iPod. Then hit, enable disk mode. Hit ok. Then, go to "My Computer" and there should be an icon with the name of your iPod. Drag your music from iTunes to the Windows Explorer Window with the iPod. In the taskbar, select remove hardware safely and select iPod. When it says ok to disconnect, disconnect your iPod. Plug the iPod into the destination computer computer and open "My Computer". Once again, there should be an icon saying your iPod's name. Select that. All the selected music should be there, and now just drag and drop it into a folder on the destination computer.
