As of right now (Nov. 20, 2011) Funambol no longer supports Thunderbird, and BirdieSync costs 20 euros for the desktop version (some of us don't use our contact lists for commercial purposes so that's a little steep).
Zindus supports Thunderbird but for some reason hasn't decided to enable it to sync to the iPhone.
