What you're theoretically supposed to do is pull the clutch handle in, push on the rear brake pedal, and turn the knob located on the front right fender. Your raptor should "click" right into reverse. That's of course when the quad is brand new, and if you don't have any of the tranny probs that the '01 raptor is plagued with.

But starting on hills taking off the Raptor did pull me a little it also was a little more adgile(raptor). We were pretty even (level ground) until I hit fith gear then I pulled the 700r Its top end was at least 10 -15 mph slower. Dealer told me the 700xx would go 84mph stock.
