You will have to separate the door panel and the crank, then shine a light in and you will see the c-clip that keeps the crank attached to the shaft if you can pry that clip off the lever will pop right off (it is kind of tricky though)

There is a specialized 'GM Window and Door Clip Removal Tool' that will accomplish the task much easier than disassembling the door panel. It can be found in most any auto parts store and is sometimes available as a 'loaner' tool from Autozone outlets.

To test a 1995 Cavalier crank sensor you would need to get a mechanic's computer. They can put a sensor/fuse tester on it and see if it is working properly.
